Biography from: IMDb.com

Gal Gadot

Date of Birth30 April 1985Rosh Ha'ayin, Israel
Height5' 10" (1.78 m)

Mini Bio (1)

Gal Gadot is an Israeli actress, singer, martial artist, and model. She was born in Rosh Ha'ayin, Israel, to a Jewish family (from Poland, Austria, Germany, and Czechoslovakia). Her parents are Irit, a teacher, and Michael, an engineer. She served in the IDF for two years, and won the Miss Israel title in 2004.

Gal began modeling in the late 2000s, and made her film debut in the fourth film of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast & Furious (2009), as Gisele. Her role was expanded in the sequels Fast Five (2011) and Fast & Furious 6 (2013), in which her character was romantically linked to Han Seoul-Oh (Sung Kang). In the films, Gal performed her own stunts. She also appeared in the 2010 films Date Night (2010) and Knight and Day(2010).

In early December 2013, Gal was cast as Wonder Woman in the superhero team-up film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and filming began in 2014 for a March 2016 release. Gadot received swordsmanship, Kung Fu kickboxing, Capoeira and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in preparation for the role. As a result, her performance as the superhero, which is the first time for the character on film, was hailed as one of the best parts of the otherwise poorly-received film. The film is part of the DC Extended Universe, and Gadot plays the role again in the solo film Wonder Woman (2017), which was received very positively, and superhero team-up Justice League (2017).

Gal is a motorcycle enthusiast, and owns a black 2006 Ducati Monster-S2R. She has been married to Israeli businessman Yaron Versano since September 28, 2008. They have two daughters.

She won the Miss Israel title in 2004, and represented Israel at the 2004 Miss Universe beauty pageant.

She served for two years as sports trainer in the Israeli Defense Forces.

Gave birth to her 1st child at age 26, a daughter named Alma Versano in November 2011. Child's father is her husband, Yaron Versano.

Is the first non-American actress to play Diana Prince/Wonder Woman.

Her depiction of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman is the first live action appearance to audiences since the cancellation of the television series in 1979. The remaining regular television appearances of Wonder Woman were only in her animated form on Super Friends (1973) and Justice League (2001).

Was close friends with her Fast & Furious co-star Paul Walker.

Is an avid motorcycle rider and owns a black 2006 Ducati Monster-S2R.

Enjoys basketball, volleyball and tennis.

Her first name is pronounced like a Spanish-speaking person would pronounce ''tal'' (in American English the closest vowel is the way the 'u' is pronounced in "cut"). Her last name most closely resembles "pot" or "knot" in English but would be slightly more correctly pronounced as rhyming with the German pronunciation of "Brot" (bread).

Her husband Yaron Varsano owned (with his brother) a hotel in the Neve Tzedek district of Tel-Aviv. In April 2015 it was sold for $25m.

She is the first actress to portray Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in a live-action theatrical film. Lynda Carter only performed the role for television.

Unlike Lynda Carter's two children James and Jessica Altman, Alma and Maya Versano (Gal's two daughters) have the opportunity of seeing their mother in her Wonder Woman costume during filming production. Lynda did not have any children when she was married to Ron Samuels.

Her first and second name respectively mean, "wave" and "riverbank".

After deciding to turn to acting, her very first audition was for the role of Camille in the 007 film 'Quantum of Solace' (2008). Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko ultimately won the part.

Personal Quotes (6)

I definitely have a strong sense of my Jewish and Israeli identity. I did my two year military service, I was brought up in a very Jewish, Israeli family environment, so of course my heritage is very important to me. I want people to have a good impression of Israel. I don't feel like I'm an ambassador for my country, but I do talk about Israel a lot - I enjoy telling people about where I come from and my religion.

There aren't enough good roles for strong women. I wish we had more female writers. Most of the female characters you see in films today are "the poor heartbroken girl". That's why I'm so proud of the Fast movies. I feel like Giselle is an empowering woman.

My height is 178 cm, which explains how I got on the high school basketball team. I was not an amazing shooter, but I ripped them on defense.

[on Wonder Woman's smirk in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)] I did that. I remember after we did that take, Zack [director Zack Snyder] came to me and he said, 'Did you just have a smirk?' I said 'Yeah.' And he asked, 'Why? I think I like it, but why?' 'Well if [Doomsday's] gonna mess with her, then she's gonna mess with him. And she knows she's gonna win.' At the end of the day Wonder Woman is a peace seeker. But when fight arrives, she can fight. She's a warrior and she enjoys the adrenaline of the fight.

[on fan's backlash over her casting as Wonder Woman] They said that I was too skinny and my boobs were too small... They said my head was too big and my body was like a broomstick. I can take anything. It's just empty talk. I can understand that part of what I'm doing means being exposed. And part of being exposed is being under fire.

When I auditioned for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), I didn't know it was for Wonder Woman. The director, Zack Snyder, asked me to do a camera test. That was torture. They were looking at six or seven girls, and we were all in separate trailers and were told to stay inside until they called us. Waiting is my enemy Number One, and I was losing my mind. So, I decided to put on Beyoncé Knowles. Who runs the world? Girls! I just started to dance, and I let my anxiety go. Thank you, Beyoncé!

Actress Gal Gadot Biography From: Biography.com

Actress Gal Gadot has starred in several 'Fast and Furious' movies and played Wonder Woman in 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.'

Synopsis

Actress Gal Gadot first attracted notice as the winner of Miss Israel in 2004 and went on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. She modeled for a time before undertaking two years of military service. Gadot then studied law for a time before pursuing acting opportunities. Fast & Furious (2009), the fourth installment of The Fast and the Furiousfranchise, was her first film role. She went on to land more movie parts, including the legendary comic book character Wonder Woman. Gadot played Wonder Woman in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice

Early Life

Born on April 30, 1985, in Rosh HaAyin, Israel, actress Gal Gadot has appeared in such popular films as Fast & Furious (2009) and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). Her father worked as an engineer and her mother was a teacher. Gadot was an athletic child, studying dance and playing several sports in her youth. One of her first career ambitions was to be a choreographer, she told Vanity Fair

When she was 18 years old, Gadot entered the Miss Israel competition. She thought that being in the beauty pageant “would be a nice experience” but “I never thought I would win,” Gadot explained to Glamour magazine. “I was shocked when they crowned me.” This victory helped launch her career as a model. She then served her mandatory two-year commitment in the Israel Defense Forces. After she completed her service, Gadot went to college to study law.

Thriving Film Career

While in college, Gadot was asked to audition to play the love interest of super spy James Bond in Quantum of Solace (2008). She had several callbacks, but she didn’t get the part. Still the experience sparked her interest in acting. As Gadot told Interview magazine, “I realized it takes a lot to act, and it's so much more interesting than going to law school.” She soon landed a role on an Israeli TV series and then a part in a feature film.

In 2009, Gadot made her film debut as Gisele in Fast & Furious starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. She returned to play the role in several sequels: Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and Furious 7 (2015). Gadot soon landed a role of a lifetime when she was cast as Wonder Woman (and her alter ego Diana Prince) in the big budget action film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). Getting into character presented her with some challenges, as she told Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show. At first, her costume “was so tight, I literally could not breathe.” Despite any wardrobe issues, Gadot sees the significance of Wonder Woman as a role model. She explained to Glamour that “it was important for me that we show how independent she is. She is not relying on a man, and she’s not there because of a love story.”

After her role in Batman v. Superman, Gadot will once again play Wonder Woman in her own film, which is set for a 2017 release. She will also be appearing in several upcoming Justice League movies. In addition to her work as Wonder Woman, Gadot also stars with Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Costner in the action drama Criminal (2016) and the upcoming comedy Keeping Up with the Joneses with Isla Fisher and Jon Hamm

Personal Life

Gadot is married to businessman Yaron Versano. The couple wed in 2008 and have a daughter named Alma.
