Happy New Years Eve. Now I know I said that 2016 was the best year of my life in last years blog post. Well, I know I’ve definitely beaten it with 2017. This year has been a truly beautiful blur. It’s been a year filled with incredible opportunities, experienced alongside some of the most amazing people I’ve had the pleasure of both works and play with. I feel more settled than ever in both work and home and feel more thankful than ever for the support, love, and encouragement I receive from everyone in my life. From Alex and I moving into our new home, to the work goals I’ve achieved and from time spent with family and friends to the new places I’ve discovered along the way. 2017 has treated me very well this year and I count my blessings that as a family we’re moving into 2018 happy and healthy. My family sadly lost an incredibly special person this year who meant so much to all of us. Losing him has only spurred me on to make him proud of everything I choose to be a part of. This year’s for you Grandad and everything that’s to come. I miss you every day. Here’s to many more beautiful memories and to making those we love and have lost, proud of everything that we do x

So proud to have been one of the 15 ambassadors partnering with L’Oreal Paris and the Princes Trust for the ‘All Worth It’ campaign.

Then it was over to Milan with Giorgio Armani for my second Milan Fashion Week & then to Paris with Dior for the A/W 17 Paris Fashion Week show.

April saw a visit to beautiful Florence for the first time and then on to Sri Lanka for the trip of a lifetime.

A trip to the idyllic Maldives in May was the perfect chance for some sunshine, but as always the work never stops.

And then it was time to explore magical Cuba and all it had to offer before my L’Oreal family whisked me off to red carpets galore. 

May’s highlight HAS to be the wedding of 2 of our favourite people: Carly & Leon. 

All of a sudden it was June and I was whisked away to Mexico with the wonderful team over at Revolve.

Then came the announcement of the new L’Oreal beauty squad that I am so proud to be a part of. 

I was then lucky enough to visit beautiful Shanghai with the always wonderful Lancome beauty team.

July brought another trip with the Revolve team; this time to the Hamptons and then to New York itself to celebrate my 28th birthday.

Then

one of my favourite places on earth with my bestie; Chicago. 

In August I collaborated with one of my favourite evening wear brands Three Floor and it became one of my most successful collabs of the year. 

August also saw some much needed down time with my wonderful friends and family before I announced my new role as a Feel Unique ambassador and Alex and I moved into our new home.

And then just like that it was September and time for NYFW again and to meet my idol once again; Victoria Beckham.

September brought yet another opportunity to work with the amazing team at Ted Baker just before the start of LFW.

The end of September brought another trip to Paris this time with my favourite Dior Beauty and my ever supportive work wife Amelia and then onto theDior SS18 show.

The L’Oreal family then took the entire beauty squad to experience the Paris Fashion Week Balmain show and even closed down the Champs-Élysées for the last show of the season. 

After celebrating Inthefrow’s 5 year anniversary, October brought a beautiful trip to St Tropez with Clarins and my announcement of my Hugo Boss watches AW17 campaign along with Jim Chapman.

I was then lucky enough to work on the Specsavers x Balmain campaign and featured in a cool Barbie inspired shoot for Arcadia magazine.

Then in the blink of an eye it was time for possibly the busiest month of the year; November. An entire month filled with family, friends and our trip to America.

Our second Thanksgiving was spent in Chicago with wonderful friends continuing our newest traditions. 

Then the run into December saw our most exciting project to date; the Olympus Pen Passion Project and our shoot not only at NASA but in Zero Gravity too.

December saw my work with the incredible Monica Vinader, a joint project with Tiffany & Co. and most exciting of all; my announcement as the face of Ted Baker’s Christmas campaign. What a perfect end to the year!

I couldn’t have achieved anything I have without the support and encouragement I am lucky enough to feel, every single day of this journey. As excited as I was about bundling up for fall, I forgot to mention that there’s another big reason why I look forward to this time of the year… I love all the unending holiday celebrations that ensue right up until the new year! If your invitations have already started piling up, that’s probably a good sign to start shopping for the hottest party dresses of the season. With so many parties to attend, you can’t be expected to shell out $100 for every dress… That’s where Pretty Little Thing by Kourtney Kardashian comes in! It’s the collection we all need for the holidays because it covers you for all things glam and glitter.

Sequin Dresses

I’m totally on board with the glitter trend, so I picked out a sequin dress for the first look. I love that that it comes with sleeves yet falls off the shoulder, which helps to balance out the extreme mini style. It definitely adds spirit to the festive atmosphere –, especially in gold. It also comes in black, but be sure to check out the website for more glittery options that will set you apart from the crowd.

The LBD

Nothing looks as fierce as a killer black dress for the holidays, which is exactly what I chose for my second look. I love how it’s infused with applique details and has a unique cut at the hem, making it one of my top picks for hottest party dresses. Those special details take this look from basic to next level! The Pretty Little Thing x Kourtney Kardashian collection also provides us with some beautiful outerwear options. This blazer was the perfect match for this dress because of the identical embellishments. It pulls the outfit together for more a more polished and luxe result.

Lace Dresses

If you’re not into sequins or LBDs, there also several lace options for you to choose from. This lace-trim slip dress comes in eye-stopping colors that are super sexy but party-appropriate. Add some sock booties or minimalist heels and you’re ready to dance from midnight till dawn!

Hey everyone!

I want to start off by saying that I’m sorry for being so MIA on here. It’s been about 3 weeks since my last blog post, which is really unlike me. I’m not even really sure I can pinpoint the exact reason why I haven’t been present here, but I think it boils down to a few reasons, and I’d like to share them with you so you can understand me a bit better.

Ever since I started doing my blog full-time in April of this year, it’s felt absolutely incredible to work for myself. I get to decide how, when, and where I work, and everything I come up with is completely from my own mind. A lot of bloggers have content creators or other people to bounce ideas off of (which is great, I’d honestly like to be there someday) which help them with their scheduling, branding, and overall creation in general of their blog. I, however, have not decided to take on another member of my team just yet, so it’s just me. I’ve never even had an intern. Because of this, I find myself very easily slipping into cases of writer’s block. After blogging for three years now (my 3rd blogiversary is January 1, 2018!) I still constantly find myself wanting to change the entire brand of my blog. I think of different kinds of things I want to post about or different color schemes or styles of clothes and I freak out thinking I need to go in a different direction, but I’m not quite sure where that is. Are there any other bloggers who feel the same way?

Also, as y’all know, I uprooted in October of this year and moved from Austin, TX to Charleston, SC. I am completely floored by bloggers who are able to go through such life-changing events like an out-of-state move (or bigger, like the birth of a child or the loss of a loved one) and are able to seamlessly keep their blogs going as if nothing is happening. I know how they’re doing it (hint: they aren’t sleeping) but when I went through this move, I simply was not able to keep my blog going with the same strength and speed as it was this summer no matter how hard I tried. Y’all, I was trying to meet new people, make new friends, figure out a new self-employed health insurance plan, find someone to take my photos, decorate an apartment, find time for my new boyfriend (my boyfriend and I of 4 years that y’all used to see me post about broke up in June), figure out some contract social media work I’m doing on the side, call and visit my parents and friends in Texas, be a bridesmaid in an out-of-state wedding, AND keep my blog going well enough to pay all my new bills (I was living at home and not paying rent the whole time I was blogging full-time this summer). I would constantly find myself coming up with new ideas for content that would get me really excited, and then something would come up and I’d put it aside for another time because there seemed to be much bigger fish to fry in my life.

As hard as I have tried for the past three years, I have decided that I will never be the kind of blogger that is able to put the real world away and be in “blogger mode” at all times. I truly admire the girls who can do this in many ways because a lot of them become really successful because of their ability to make blogging their life, but I have always been one to put my phone or computer down and enjoy the real world that’s happening around me. I honestly consider myself really lucky to have gotten to where I am because this whole “living in the moment” thing sounds really nice until it means you’re missing your deadlines because you’re too busy going out with friends or going to the beach for the weekend with your boyfriend to get a new blog post up. It’s almost like there is this invisible wall you have to pretend isn’t there in order to live as a normal person and a full-time blogger at the same time, but my wall is thick and murky, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to forget that it’s there.

So, once I felt pretty settled and in control of the major things in my life after my move, I was already planning a trip back home for Christmas for two weeks, and it’s like I was hitting the reset button all over again. Once I was at my parents’ house, it felt like I was on vacation (like being at home can do) and getting back to my blogging schedule felt completely impossible to me. Also, I feel like it’s important to mention that I live with an extreme, un-medicated case of ADD (any medicine I take for it caused me to have terrible reactions, including depression) so “getting back on schedule” is a task that’s 20 times more difficult for me to do than a normal person.

So, here I am, sitting in my parents’ kitchen, venting to y’all because even after I’ve been MIA like this, I know I have a lot of people out there that read this who care about me. Some of you know me very well, some I’ll never have the pleasure of meeting, but each of Y’all mean so much to me, and I want to be very open and honest with you and share what my life has been like lately mostly because I know that everyone out there has struggled of their own. I’m going to continue blogging because the fact is, I absolutely love it. It actually does feel like I found my professional purpose here, and there is no way I’d ever consider giving it up for something else. I’m going to continue to live with these same struggles, I know that, but even as complicated as it can feel, I’ve never felt like my blog has done anything but bring joy and good things and good people into my life overall. Because of that, I’m going to work as hard as possible to make this the best By, Hilary Rose I possibly can. I’m going to grow, eventually add new members to my team, travel more (I’m going to Cabo in 2 weeks AH), and create the best content possible for Y’all not matter what.
